About the name Mechanomy
General
Mechanomy.
Mechanomy. Mechanics + -nomy, the system of rules, laws, or knowledge.
In the name Mechanomy, we are interested in the system of rules, laws, or knowledge of mechanical systems. This is the same construction as taxomomy, astronomy, etc. and is pronounced similarly: meh-kan-o-mie.
A good name communicates the core of an entity; and at the center of our activities and interests is this pursuit of the knowledge of mechanical systems, recorded in forms that are maximally useful to the user, the designer, the engineer. We're not an academic journal, rather we think that too many development teams are swamped by complexity and the unintended consequences of previous decisions. We have some ideas about taming these challenges, say hi and stay tuned.
